About the name
Tallyvane is a pen name, used consistently across this site and the calculators published alongside it. It is not a company, a team, or a stand-in for anyone else. The site does not claim an author it does not have, and it does not invent credentials: there is no financial adviser, actuary, CPA or attorney behind these pages, and none is implied anywhere on them.
What I do and do not claim
I am a software developer. What I am good at here is reading a statute, a regulation, a notice or an agency's actuarial page carefully, turning the rules into code that can be tested, and documenting where the two diverge. That is a documentary skill, not a professional one. I cannot tell you when to claim Social Security, whether to start a 72(t) series or take a lump sum, and nothing on this site substitutes for a licensed professional, the Social Security Administration or the IRS.
What the site offers instead is traceability. Every rate, age and threshold comes from a dated file that names the document it was read from; the methodology page lists every rule the engine applies and every one it leaves out; the corrections log records the errors found, including ones that were live; and the editorial policy describes how a figure gets from a document into a calculator.
How the numbers are made
A data file reaches "verified" only after two independent reads of the primary documents produce the same figures. A third pass then tries to break the result, recomputing the agency's own worked examples and comparing them with the calculator line by line. Confirmed figures become automated tests, and the site cannot be built while any test fails. Language models help with the reading and the cross-checking; they decide nothing. Every published sentence and every figure is reconciled by me against the source document.
Professional review
The site has not been reviewed by a financial adviser, actuary, CPA or attorney. When that changes, this page will name the reviewer, their credential, the scope of what they reviewed and the date, and it will say plainly what fell outside that scope. Until then, treat every figure as a careful reading of the published rules rather than as advice.
Contact and corrections
Email support@retirematics.com. A report that names the page, the figure you expected and the official document it comes from is checked against that document. If it is right, the data file is corrected, a test is added to pin the corrected figure, and the change appears on the corrections page.
